Christopher Hurt
Christopher B Hurt, MD, FIDSA, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida in 2003, completed his internal medicine training at Brown University in 2006, and then came to UNC for fellowship training in infectious diseases. He has been a faculty member at UNC since 2010. Dr Hurt's research interests are in the prevention and treatment of HIV, hepatitis C virus (HCV), and other infectious diseases among marginalized populations including PWIDs, MSM, and transgender people. Since 2014, he has worked extensively on issues related to improving the equitable access of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) services in North Carolina. He is the director of the NC HIV Training & Education Center (NCHTEC) and supervises multiple studies related to HIV prevention as an investigator with the UNC Global HIV Prevention & Treatment Clinical Trials Unit. Dr Hurt is a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and a member of the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA).
